<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively suppress vibration of an outer tub housing a washing and spin-drying tub. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This washing machine includes: a suspension means 31 which elastically supports the outer tub 33 housing the washing and spin-drying tub 34 within a washing machine outer frame 30; a suspension position setting means 57 which sets the position of the suspension means 31; a state detection means 61 which detects the state of the outer tub 33; and a control means 39 which controls the suspension position setting means 57.
