PURPOSE: A mobile terminal and a control method thereof are provided to largely extend availability of a scroll bar displayed on a touch screen in order to easily select a function or a menu. CONSTITUTION: A scroll area extended to a touch screen toward a first direction and a scroll bar located in the scroll area are displayed(S52). If the scroll bar is touched and dragged toward the first direction or the opposite direction of the first direction, a screen is scrolled(S53,S54,S55). If the scroll area or the scroll bar is touched and dragged toward a second direction or the opposite direction of the second direction, a function related to a predefined menu is operated(S56).
