<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method capable of accurately extracting an edge component used for edge enhancement or a noise component used for noise removal, and highly improving the separation accuracy. <P>SOLUTION: An image processing method for applying edge enhancement to an original image extracts the noise component and the edge component based on the original image, estimates that a proportion of the remaining noise component included in the edge component is greater as an absolute value of the extracted noise component is greater, extracts an actual edge component by removing the estimated remaining noise component from the edge component, and performs the edge enhancement on the original image based on the extracted actual edge component. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
