PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system for generating and/or using a color database. SOLUTION: A device includes a communication interface, a processor, and a computer readable medium including computer readable instructions to be executed by the processor. The communication interface is configured so as to receive a request for color presentation from a second device. The computer readable instruction allows the device (a) to generate a first color, (b) to determine a color identifier for the generated first color, (c) to determine a color formula for the generated first color, the color formula being related to the generation of a coating having the generated first color, (d) to store the determined color identifier in a database in relation to the determined color formula, (e) to generate a color database by repeating the steps (a) to (d) about a plurality of colors, (f) to compare the generated color database with the request to identify a color from the generated color database, and (g) to transmit the identified color to the second device.
