<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steering-by-wire system steering device for a vehicle capable of suitably setting an operation range of an operation part by a simplified constitution. <P>SOLUTION: A connection device 30 is provided with a first planetary gear mechanism 32 and a second planetary gear mechanism 33. Further, if a turning actuator 24 is normal, an electronic control unit 44 allows rotation of a gear 32a, forbids rotation of a connection part 33c and releases mechanical connection of a steering operation device 10 and a turning device 20. In this case, a turning operation range of a steering wheel 11 is determined by an abutment part 32e formed on the gear 32a. Whereas, when abnormality is generated on the actuator 24, the unit 44 forbids rotation of the gear 32a, allows rotation of the connection part 33c and mechanically connects the device 10 and the device 20.
