<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ozone oxidation accelerator giving excellent effect both in sterilization and freshness-keeping of vegetables by ozone treatment, and to provide a cleaning method. <P>SOLUTION: The ozone oxidation accelerator is obtained by mixing a compound (A) represented by the general formula (1), an acid (B) having a molecular weight of not less than 100 and an acid dissociation constant (pKa) in an aqueous solution at 25°C of not less than 3, and water. In formula (1), X<SP>1</SP>, X<SP>2</SP>and X<SP>3</SP>each independently is a group represented by the general formula (2) or a hydroxy group, with the proviso that at least one of X<SP>1</SP>, X<SP>2</SP>and X<SP>3</SP>is a group represented by the general formula (2).
