PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately calculate the intensity of external light in the surroundings of a pointing object for pointing an imaging screen having a plurality of imaging sensors.

SOLUTION: A touch position detection device 10 includes an external light intensity calculation part 3 for analyzing an image captured by a photo-sensor 12 to calculate the external light intensity which is the intensity of light in the surroundings of the light made incident on a portion of the photo-sensor 12.
