<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sound-emitting/collecting apparatus achieving various sound-emitting/collecting modes, according to a situation required by a user. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The sound-emitting/collecting apparatus has a detection section for detecting the rotation angle of each hinge, and an I/O processing section for changing-over a speaker or microphone function. The I/O processing section determines the sound-emitting/collecting direction of an element according to the rotation angle of the hinge, and changes-over the speaker or microphone function, according to the determined sound-emitting/collecting direction of each element. For example, in a fourfold state, there is one user, thus allowing center elements 50D-50I to function as microphones in a left side view in a state, where a device front is set to be an installation surface, and allowing right-side elements 50A-50C and left-side elements 50J-50L to function as speakers.
