<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of producing a dispersion of resin-coated metal oxide particles excellent in the dispersibility even in high concentration. Ž<P>SOLUTION: There is provided a method of producing a dispersion of particles of a resin-coated metal oxide comprising: adding a resin-coating material containing an acrylic resin and/or a methacrylic resin to an organic solvent dispersion of particles of a metal oxide having an average particle diameter in a range of 0.3 to 20 μm and subjected to a heating treatment beforehand; and subjecting the resultant mixture to a mechanochemical treatment. Provided is also a coating liquid for forming a transparent coating film comprising the dispersion of particles of a resin-coated metal oxide obtained by the above method, a matrix-forming component and an organic solvent.
