摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a toroidal continuously variable transmission capable of suppressing deterioration in gear shift controllability even when abnormality occurs in a hydraulic control device. SOLUTION: The toroidal continuously variable transmission 1 includes the hydraulic control device 60 comprising a first flow rate control valve 63 for moving a power roller 30 to a first direction E by supplying an oil pressure to a first hydraulic chamber OP1 based on a target driving electric current Ido as a controlled variable, and a second flow rate control valve 64 for moving the power roller 30 to a second direction F by supplying the oil pressure to a second hydraulic chamber OP2 based on a target driving electric current Iuo as a controlled variable. A transmission ECU 70 does not perform integral control in setting the controlled variable when abnormality is detected in one of the first flow rate control valve 63 and the second flow rate control valve 64 which can move the power roller 30 in a direction opposite to the tangential force direction of tangential force applied to the power roller 30, based on driving force and driven force in the direction opposite from the driving force.
