PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lubricating oil composition as a lubricating oil to be subjected to the contact with a silver-containing material, capable of inhibiting the corrosion of the silver-containing material despite containing a zinc dialkyldithiophosphate. SOLUTION: The lubricating oil composition comprises a lubricating base oil comprising a mineral oil base oil and/or a synthetic base oil, (A) a metal-based cleaning agent, (B) one or more alkenylsuccinimides and/or boron-containing alkenylsuccinimides and (C) a zinc dialkyldithiophosphate. The lubricating oil composition contains, based on the whole amount of the composition, 0.12-2.0 mass%, on a metal basis, of the component A, such an amount of the component B as to be 0-0.03 mass% on a boron basis and 0.005-0.12 mass% on a nitrogen basis, wherein the mass ratio (B/N) (wherein, B is the amount of boron, and N is the amount of nitrogen) is 0-0.55, and 0.005-0.10 mass%, on a phosphorus basis, of the component C.
