摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a belt-type continuously variable transmission suppressing an increase in fuel consumption of an internal combustion engine. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The belt-type continuously variable transmission has: a fixed sheave 52; a movable sheave 53 movable in the axial direction of a pulley shaft; a hydraulic chamber 54 for applying an axial force of the pulley shaft onto the movable sheave by a working fluid filled inside; a switching mechanism 100 for switching a state in which working fluid circulation is permitted between a working fluid supply/discharge means and the hydraulic chamber and a state in which working fluid circulation is prohibited; and a hydraulic control means having a confining control mode for confining the hydraulic pressure of the hydraulic chamber inside and a hydraulic control mode for adjusting the hydraulic pressure in the hydraulic chamber by the working fluid supply/discharge means so as to be an input change gear ratio. When the change gear ratio is not more than a standard change gear ratio, and acceleration opening and vehicle speed are within a predetermined set change gear ratio, the hydraulic control means selects the confining control mode, confines the hydraulic pressure in the hydraulic chamber inside, and fixes the change gear ratio.
