<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for treating water for extinguishing the fire of a cigarette butt containing nicotine, tar, ash, and the like. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The apparatus for treating water for extinguishing the fire of a cigarette butt includes a tank 30 into which fire extinguishing water for a cigarette butt and a desiccant are added, a heater 31 which is installed around the tank 30 for heating the tank 30, an agitating vane 32 which rotates in the tank 30 for agitating the fire extinguishing water and the desiccant, a spout port 33a which spouts the fire extinguishing water to the agitating vane 32, and a blower fan 34 which introduces air into the tank 30, makes the air pass through, and discharges the air.
