<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an occupant protection device capable of developing air bags of a robot at a proper timing while restraining load on a robot side. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The occupant protection device 1 is provided with the robot 10 loaded in a vehicle. The robot includes the air bags 14 at positions having possibility to collide with occupants upon vehicle collision based on boarding position relation of the robot to the occupants, and a control device 12 controlling the air bags. The control device develops the air bags when receiving a vehicle collision signal indicating occurrence of vehicle collision by communication from the vehicle side.
