The device (2) has a fan wheel (6) comprising fan wheel blades (7) for air intake. The fan wheel blades connect a fan wheel outer cover (9) with a fan wheel hub (8). The fan wheel is arranged in a fan shroud (10). A gap (11) is formed between a wheel outer cover section and a fan shroud section. The gap runs sectionally and radially concerning a main air flow direction (HLSR) and towards centrifugal force occurring during rotation of the fan wheel to control air return-flow. The gap exhibits a gap width ranging from 1.5 mm to 6 mm. An independent claim is also included for a cooling system comprising a ventilating device.
