PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus stopping the supply of electric power to a section for instructing temperature control of a fixing apparatus during a power-saving mode and smoothly performing the temperature rise of the fixing apparatus even when returned to a normal mode from the power-saving mode. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus 150 includes the fixing apparatus 234; a driver 322 which is a control circuit for controlling the temperature of the fixing apparatus 234 in response to a heater control signal; a sub-CPU 320 transmitting a first heater control signal to the driver 322; a main power source 318 stopping the supply of electric power to the sub-CPU 320 during the power-saving mode; and a power source control section 314 outputting a second heater control signal to the driver 322 in response to a user's operation of a locker switch 176 and controlling the main power source 318 to supply electric power to the sub-CPU 320.
