PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for treating gypsum board scrap that can easily offer recycled gypsum having a sufficiently lowered content of a surfactant and thus being able to be used in a high rate as a gypsum component substitute in cement. SOLUTION: The method for treating gypsum board scrap includes a step (A) for preparing crushed gypsum board scrap from which paper is removed and a step (B) for washing the crushed gypsum board scrap with water in the presence of ozone and then subjecting it to solid-liquid separation to recover gypsum. In an example of the step (B), the crushed gypsum board scrap is mixed with water to obtain a slurry, which is then supplied with an ozone-containing gas. COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
