An information processing apparatus comprises a display control means for controlling the display positions of first and second information images in a display area of a display means for displaying images and a receiving means for receiving an instruction to move the first information image in a moving direction. The display control means executes a first processing for moving the first information image in the moving direction indicated by the instruction during the period while the receiving means receives the instruction and a second processing for moving the second information image in a direction different from the moving direction of the first information image so that the second information image should not overlap the first information image in a case where the first information image is moved by the first processing to come contact with the second information image and after the contact therewith, the first information image is further moved by a predetermined distance in the moving direction.
