A method, computer program and mobile device are disclosed in which the security of data on the device is increased. The computer program running on the device intercepts messages, for example SMS messages, and determines whether the message contains a command or is simply a message. Messages are passed to the normal message depository to be viewed by the user of the device, whilst commands result in actions being taken by the mobile device. Such actions include deletion of all or part of the data on the device, instigating tracking of the device and locking of the device. On replacement of a SIM card in the device, a message is sent from the device indicating the change of SIM card and providing details of the new SIM card. |
