<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a field electron emitter having an electrode shaped to assure constant and stabilized electron emitting performance. <P>SOLUTION: The surface of a main electrode portion 21 at the center in the cross direction of a cathode electrode 2 is a linear flat face.
