PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drain plug device for a bathtub, which prevents soil from being adhered easily due to the exposure of a drain outlet fitting attached to a drain outlet on the bottom of the bathtub, and which prevents the appearance from deteriorating due to the conspicuousness of the adhered soil. SOLUTION: In the drain plug device 2 of the bathtub 1, the drain outlet fitting 3 is attached to an edge of the drain outlet 10 on the bottom 11 of the bathtub 1; a mechanical box 4 is attached to the drain outlet fitting 3; and a sealing plug cover 5, which freely moves upward and downward with respect to the mechanical box 4 so as to open and close a central hole 33 of the drain outlet fitting 3, serving as the drain outlet 10, is housed in the mechanical box 4. When the sealing plug cover 5 is moved downward to close the hole 33, the edge of the sealing plug cover 5 abuts on the bottom 11 of the bathtub 1, so as to make the drain outlet fitting 3 covered with the sealing plug cover 5.
