<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light-emitting element excellent in high luminous efficiency and durability. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The light-emitting element at least includes a luminous layer between an anode and a cathode, emits light by electric energy, and includes a pyrene compound expressed by a general formula (1) and a pyrene compound having a specific structure. R<SP>1</SP>to R<SP>18</SP>may be the same or different from one another; and selection is performed from among hydrogen, an alkyl group, a cyclo alkyl group, a heterocycle group, an alkenyl group, a cyclo alkenyl group, an alkynyl group, an alkoxy group, an alkylthio group, an arylether group, an arylthioether group, an aryl group, a hetero aryl group, halogen, an amino group, a cyano group, a silyl group and -P(=O)-R<SP>19</SP>R<SP>20</SP>, and ring structures formed with adjacent substituent groups. For R<SP>19</SP>and R<SP>20</SP>, selection is performed from the aryl group and the hetero aryl group.
