<p>A pressure-sensitive adhesive composition and an adherent coating composition are described having a reservoir of medication or other substance and capable of intimate contact with a target area of skin or other tissue, respectively, and rapid conveyance of the medication onto and/or into the target area. The adhesive composition is readily removed from the area of skin using water. Mixtures containing polyvinylpyrrolidone and glycerol have been found to dissolve a large number of medications while producing a self-tackifying, pressure-sensitive adhesive composition, or a brushable and/or sprayable adherent film, depending on the mixture. With the addition of a colorant, the extent of coverage and an estimate of the amount of adherent film delivered may be obtained. Application of the adherent film to provide anti-cancer medication to exposed tissue resulting from tumor resection is also described.</p> |
