The wind energy plant has a rotor rotating relative to a horizontally running rotor axis, where a rotor blade (10) is coupled to a rotor shaft by a rotor hub (30). A lighting protection device is provided for deviating current from the rotor blade into the rotor hub. The lighting protection path is designed for current dissipation by by-passing the bearing surfaces and runs into the area of the bearing elements outside a pitch axel (12).
