An LAS-type float glass which is substantially free from As2O3 and/or Sb2O3 and precipitates a solid solution of ß-quartz or of ß-spodumene as the main crystal by means of heat treatment, characterized in that when C1 represents SnO2 content [mass%] at the glass surface, C0 represents SnO2 content [mass%] at the depth of 0.5mm from the glass surface; and k represents SnO2 concentration gradient [mass%/mm] as defined by the formula: k=(C1-C0)/0.5, at least one side of the glass satisfies the relationships: k = 2 and C0 = 0.8.
