The engine has a catalyzer and the method involves the use of the voltage signal of a binary mono lambda probe. The oxygen content of the exhaust gas is balanced in the catalyzer, the voltage signal of a theoretical probe arranged within the catalyzer is computed from a mathematical function of the balanced oxygen content and the lambda regulation is based on the theoretical voltage signal. An independent claim is also included for a lambda regulating device. |
