METHOD FOR CHANGING ROOT GROWTH

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for improving growth of a root system, and to provide a very useful means for improving especially a collecting method of leach substances.

SOLUTION: A method for changing growth of plant roots includes growing roots near membrane releasing water during root growth. In the method, the membrane is a hydrophobic porous membrane or a hydrophilic non-porous membrane. Alternatively, the method is usable for collecting substances leached out from plant roots by growing plant roots in a cultivation medium surrounded by the membrane so as to release water from the membrane into the cultivation medium and on the other hand, hold the substances leached out from plant roots in a growth medium by the membrane. The membrane is a hydrophobic porous membrane or a hydrophilic non-porous membrane.
