PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suitably set area information to be used for tracing and managing the positions of cargos in physical distribution.

SOLUTION: In an information processing system, a personal computer 18 receives input information for area setting on an area setting picture for setting areas on points of a route on which a communication terminal 12 moves, and transmits the input information for the area setting to a management server 17 through a network 16. The management server 17 receives the input information for area setting through the network 16, sets an areas of points based on the input information for the area setting, stores the set area setting information by associating it with the identification information of the communication terminal 12, and determines an area of the communication terminal 12 which transmits positional information based on GPS positioning by using the stored area setting information.
