<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for preventing a car from elevating and lowering while its door is opened without requiring a driving part. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A system for this device has the car door 2 provided in the car 1 of the elevator, a landing door provided in a landing, and an engaging device 3 opening and closing the car door 2 and the landing door in the interlocking relationship and composed of an engaging piece 4 and a first engaging roller 5 and a second engaging roller 5a moving in the horizontal direction simultaneously with the travel of the engaging piece 4 in the horizontal direction. A pair of first and second locking members 6, 7 allowing the engaging piece 4 or the first and second engaging rollers 5, 5a to move in the horizontal direction and locking relative travel of the engaging piece 4 or the first and second engaging rollers 5, 5a in the vertical direction when the car door 2 is opened are provided in a car 1 section close to the engaging device 3. Each of the first and second locking members 6, 7 is provided with a first cut-out part 6b and a second cut-out part 7b to allow the engaging piece 4 or the first and second engaging rollers 5, 5a to pass through them when the car door 2 is fully closed or almost fully closed.
