PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image with high picture quality and high stability even in long-term printing. SOLUTION: An image forming method is provided, which includes a developing means developing an electrostatic latent image on an image carrier by using a toner to form a toner image, a transfer means transferring the toner image on the image carrier onto a transfer material, and a cleaning means cleaning a transfer residue toner remaining on the image carrier by use of a blade after transferring the image. In the method, the image carrier has a surface roughness Rz of from 0.3 μm to 2.5 μm; the toner comprises toner particles containing at least a binder resin, a colorant and a release agent, to which a fatty acid metal salt having a median diameter of from 0.10 μm to 1.00 μm on a volume basis is externally added; and the toner shows an isolation rate of the fatty acid metal salt of from 1.0% to 30.0%.
