PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To highly accurately detect the attitude of occupants by an inexpensively formed constitution. SOLUTION: An occupant attitude detection apparatus 100 includes an electrostatic capacitance sensor part 10 and a circuit part 20. The electrostatic capacitance sensor part 10 includes first to third detection electrodes 11-13 arranged in a vehicle interior ceiling part 2. Each of the detection electrodes 11-13 is connected to an electrostatic capacitance detection circuit 21 of the circuit part 20 and a shield drive circuit 23 via changeover switches SW1-SW3. A CPU 29 of the circuit part 20 compares electrostatic capacitance values based on electrostatic capacitance from each of the detection electrodes 11-13 detected by the electrostatic capacitance detection circuit 21 and determines a seating attitude through the use of information on the position of a head part 49 of an occupant (human body) 48 seated in a seat 40.
