PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mechanism for driving a rotating body, which can extract motive energy from a repeatedly moving body by utilizing water heat. SOLUTION: The mechanism is equipped with a rotating body 20 with an output shaft, a heavy-weight mechanism 50 which is provided in the rotating body 20 and includes a pair of liquid storage chambers 60a, 60b that communicate with each other through a pathway 51 housing movably a heavy weight 54 and in which liquids of low boiling temperature are sealed, and a water imparting mechanism 70 for imparting water to an outer hull of one liquid storage chamber. The mechanism depressurizes the one liquid storage chamber and moves the liquid in the other liquid storage chamber to the one liquid storage chamber together with the heavy weight via the communicating pathway, thus rotating and driving the rotating body by the displacement motion of the heavy weight.
