<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device for an internal combustion engine, achieving a target intake air volume or a predetermined physical quantity equivalent thereto with high accuracy while having simple structure. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A throttle opening obtained by inputting a target intake air volume (KL) into an air inverse model is set as a target opening, and the operation of a throttle valve 8 is controlled according to the target opening. The actual opening of the throttle valve 8 is input into an air model while correcting the internal variable (possible intake pipe pressure (PM)) of the air model based on the output signal of an air flow meter 12, thereby calculating the actual KL achieved at the present throttle opening. Correction data ΔPM used for correcting the possible PM is converted into the same physical quantity as the target KL, and the target KL input into the air inverse model is corrected by the converted correction data ΔKL.
