The vehicle has an entrance area that is formed for accommodating a sliding step (4) in a vehicle base edge, where the step is arranged in a sliding step casket (3). The sliding step is guided into the casket in such a manner that the step implements downward parabolic movement from a casket plane during extension of the step from the casket. An extension controller is provided for the step, where the controller is designed in such a manner that the step achieves two end positions. The step is supported by two arms (6, 7) that are engaged into the casket. An independent claim is also included for a sliding step casket.
