SOLUTION: An exposure head includes a light emitting element 2951, an optical image forming system that image-forms light from the light emitting element 2951 into an image, a reference element Erf arranged in the light emitting element 2951, and a control means for controlling the light emission of the light emitting element 2951 and switching off the reference element in latent image formation action. The control means determines a degree of the deterioration of the light emitting element 2951 based on light amounts of the light emitting element 2951 and the reference element Erf each emitting light at the timing of conducting no latent image forming action, and controls the light amount in the latent image forming action based on the degree of deterioration.
