摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hardware-based failover scheme enabling rapid end-to-end recovery. SOLUTION: Hardware logic sends and returns back a core packet which is periodically generated, transmitted, received and processed, from one end of the communications network to another. If a communications network node or communications link failure arises along a transport path, the hardware logic swaps an affected traffic being conveyed with a preestablished backup transport path, typically within a few microseconds. Advantages by enabling the continuous delivery of provisioned communication services with the improved resiliency and availability of a communication network are derived from the rapid failover.
