PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a valve diagnostic method and a valve diagnostic device which detect symptom of abnormalities of a valve and a valve rod at an early stage, without any alteration to the valve and the valve rod in order to attach a sensor which detects abnormalities of the valve rod, and supervising the vibration of the valve and the valve rod with high precision. SOLUTION: Ultrasonic wave sensors 4a-4d which perform transmission and reception of an ultrasonic wave by ultrasonic wave pulse transmitter and receiver is mounted outside of a valve casing 3. The ultrasonic wave is transmitted by the ultrasonic wave sensors 4a-4d into the valve rod 2 and the valve 1. The ultrasonic wave reflected from the valve rod 2 and the valve 1 is received. The vibration of the valve rod 2 and the valve 1 is detected by measuring repeatedly the displacement by the vibration of the valve rod 2 and the valve 1.
