PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas-blast circuit breaker which can improve breaking performance by blowing gas efficiently to an arc. SOLUTION: The gas-blast circuit breaker is provided with a movable current flowing contactor 1, a movable arc contactor 3 and a fixed current flowing contactor 2 and a fixed arc contactor 4 arranged in opposition in a tank filled with an arc-extinguishing gas, and the movable current flowing contactor 1, the movable arc contactor 3, and an insulating nozzle 5 installed at the outer circumference of the movable arc contactor 3 are fixed to a puffer cylinder 6. The puffer cylinder 6 is connected to an operating mechanism through an operating rod 7, a puffer chamber 9 is formed by the puffer cylinder 6 and the operating rod 7, and a hollow section 7a is formed in the operating rod 7. The hollow section 7a formed in the operating rod 7 and the puffer chamber 9 are communicated through a communicating hole 16, and a check valve 8 which has a function to make flow gas only in a direction going from the hollow section 7a of the operating rod 7 toward the puffer chamber 9 and seal the gas from going in the reverse direction is installed in the communication hole 16.
