<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent loading of test force exceeding the capacity of a load cell. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The testing machine includes a double-acting single rod cylinder 10 where a rod 12 is protruded from one end surface side of a piston 11, the load cell 4 for detecting the test force loaded on a test piece TP via the single rod cylinder 10, a servo valve 7 for controlling the flow of driving pressure oil from a hydraulic source 31 to a bottom chamber 10a of the single rod cylinder 10, and a pressure oil supplying means 31 and L2 for supplying pressure oil to a rod chamber 10b of the single rod cylinder 10 without the servo valve 7.
