PURPOSE: A method for controlling a host device, an image forming system, an image forming apparatus and a host device employing the same are provided to enable a user to monitor the breakdown of an image forming device at a relatively remote place. CONSTITUTION: An image forming system includes an image forming device(10) and a host device(20). A storage unit(15) stores the breakdown information of the image forming device, and a first control unit(13) provides the breakdown information to the host device. Each host(21) includes a second control unit(23) and a UI(User Interface)(25). The second control unit provides the operation command for the image forming device. The second control unit sets up the function of the image forming device, and the breakdown information of the image forming device is displayed on the user interface unit.
