<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily or surely control a delay time difference between polarization channels. <P>SOLUTION: A controller is provided with: an output monitor 7 for monitoring polarization multiplexing output light output from a polarization multiplexing optical modulator for optically modulating two systems independent of each other and outputting optical signals output from the optically modulated two systems with polarization multiplexing; and a control unit 8 for controlling a delay time difference on a stage where polarization multiplexing is performed on the optical signals from the two systems, forming the polarization multiplexing optical modulator, on the basis of a monitored result of the output monitor 7. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
