PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reel including a hub whose outer peripheral surface is formed into a proper shape in the wound state of a recording tape, and a recording tape cartridge. SOLUTION: The reel 10 includes a reel hub 32 formed in the shape of a cylindrical tube with a base, on an outer peripheral surface of which a recording tape T is wound, an upper flange member 74 formed into a disk shape by a material having an elastic modulus equal to or higher than that of a material of the reel hub 32, and coaxially joined to an opening end portion of the reel hub 32, a metal reel plate 54 formed into a disk shape and coaxially fixed to the base 36 of the reel hub 32, and plate retention portions 80 formed integrally with the base 36 of the reel hub 32 and brought into contact with the outer peripheral surface of the reel plate 54 at at least four locations which are at equal intervals in a circumferential direction of the hub.
