PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for allocating optimal pages to a logical volume according to the usage of the logical volume and access characteristics. SOLUTION: This storage system connected to a host computer is provided with a plurality of disk drives and a controller for controlling the plurality of disk drives. A first disk drive group configured of one or more disk drives is included, and information showing that first attributes are imparted to a logical volume is stored, and the first attributes are imparted when the first logical volume including a plurality of first logic storage areas is provided to the host computer, and the plurality of actual storage areas of the first disk drive group are reserved as the plurality of first logical storage areas, and a plurality of first logical storage areas included in the first logical volume are allocated as storage areas for storing data requested from the host computer, and the data requested from the host computer are stored in the allocated actual storage areas.
