PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a furnace wall diagnosing method for a coke oven capable of enhancing the precision of a furnace wall diagnosis by discriminating and removing the disturbance by the drop of a coke mass or the like. SOLUTION: This furnace wall diagnosing method is one for a coke oven for performing the furnace wall diagnosis of the carbonization chamber by inserting a photographic apparatus into the chamber and by subjecting a furnace wall image produced by photographing the furnace wall to an image analysis, comprising: photographing the furnace wall within the chamber by the photographic apparatus per one extrusion of the coke; clipping furnace wall images corresponding to a plurality of positions in the furnace-length direction of the chamber from the photographed furnace wall images; memorizing the clipped furnace wall images in a memory unit per one cycle of the coke extrusion; reading out each furnace wall image memorized in the memory unit to discriminate as the disturbance, the coke mass dropping in the chamber and at least one of a flame and a dust generated in the chamber; and excluding regions in the furnace wall images discriminated as the disturbance from the objective regions for the image analysis.
