<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correctly detect a voltage at which discharge starts, by securely detecting minute discharge while preventing erroneous detection due to influence of noise. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: a photoreceptor drum 9; a developing roller 81 having a gap left from the photoreceptor drum, bearing toner, and connected to an AC voltage application section; a detecting section 14 that detects discharge between the developing roller and the photoreceptor; and a control section 10 that controls each of devices and recognizes discharge by receiving an output from the detecting section 14. During the detection of an occurrence of discharge in a first stage, the photoreceptor drum and the developing roller make at least two rotations. During the detection of the occurrence of the discharge in the stage, the control section 10 recognizes the occurrence of the discharge if receiving two or more outputs from the detecting section 14 indicating the occurrence of it. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
