PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an original reader and an image forming apparatus reducing an influence of a change in temperature and having improved quality of original reading. SOLUTION: The original reader 10 has: an irradiation member 210; a lens array 250; a photoelectric conversion member 220 for converting light from the lens array 250 into an electric signal; a white shading correction circuit 606 and a black shading correction circuit 614 for correcting electric signals from the photoelectric conversion member 220; a storage part 608 and a storage part 618 for storing a plurality of correction data used by the white shading correction circuit 606 and the black shading correction circuit 614 respectively; and a control section 612. The control section 612 selects correction data from among the plurality of correction data and control the white shading compensation circuit 606 and the black shading compensation circuit 614 so as to correct electric signals on the basis of the selected correction data.
