PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a phenylacetate derivative effectively inhibiting activation of type T calcium ion channels or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof. SOLUTION: There are provided the new phenylacetate derivative represented by chemical formula or the pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof; a method for producing the same; and a prophylactic or therapeutic composition for diseases induced by the activation of the type T calcium ion channels containing the same as an active ingredient. Since the composition containing the phenylacetate derivative effectively inhibits the activation of the type T calcium ion channels, the composition can be effectively used as a prophylactic or therapeutic agent for the diseases such as hypertension, cancer, epilepsy, or neurogenic pain induced by the activation of the type T calcium ion channels.
