PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for visual inspection of a core (11) in a heat exchanger (10) equipped with a fin (13) and a tube (12). SOLUTION: The visual inspection device for the core (11) of the heat exchanger (10) includes the fin (13) and the tube (12), including imaging means (3-5, 7) and an image processing unit (2). The core of the heat exchanger includes: an image processing means which executes averaging procedure and dynamic binarization processing of imaging data to take out only the image of tube; a computing means which computes the central axis covering the whole tube longitudinal direction consisted of central coordinates in the tube width direction for the above image of tube taken out; and a determination means which compares the above computed central axis with reference value to calculate maximum displacement (ΔT) throughout the tube longitudinal direction, and then determines the tube as defective if this maximum displacement (ΔT) is the predefined threshold (c1) or more.
