摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a modulation method that makes high-speed data transmission attainable by including information in a positive edge of a carrier signal SC or in both positive and negative edges of the carrier signal. SOLUTION: In the modulation method, a variable delay circuit 312 delays a carrier signal S<SB>C</SB>having a prescribed frequency, and outputs a modulated signal S<SB>ESM</SB>. A delay setting unit 314 sets a delay period for the variable delay circuit 312 according to a data signal S<SB>BB</SB>to be modulated. The delay setting unit 314 assigns each symbol A in the data signal S<SB>BB</SB>to any one of positive edges and negative edges in the carrier signal S<SB>C</SB>, and sets a delay period for the variable delay circuit 312 at the timing at which a positive edge in the carrier signal S<SB>C</SB>passes through the variable delay circuit 312, according to the symbol value A in the data signal S<SB>BB</SB>assigned to the positive edge. Furthermore, the delay setting unit sets a delay period for the variable delay circuit 312 at the timing at which a negative edge in the carrier signal S<SB>C</SB>passes through the variable delay circuit 312, according to the symbol value in the data signal S<SB>BB</SB>assigned to the negative edge.
