PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power supply device which supplies a required drive power as much as possible in all use states of a load device, and enhances total efficiency by reducing the total loss. SOLUTION: An energy storage device 2 includes switches 13, 14 and 15 which switch the series connection and parallel connection of a first energy storage unit 11 and a second energy storage unit 12. A switching control section 3 includes a section 21 which operates the required drive power of a load, a section 22 which estimates the maximum supply power in the series connection and parallel connection of a first energy storage unit 11 and second energy storage unit 12, a section 23 which estimates the total loss of a load in the series connection and parallel connection, and a section 24 which estimates the residual capacity of the first energy storage unit 11 and second energy storage unit 12. The switching control section 3 switches the series connection and parallel connection based on the difference of maximum supply power and loss in each connection state, and the total loss.
